Plus size work wear essentials that you need in your wardrobe this year!
As most of you are slowly (or quickly) going back into the office after the New Year, it’s time to make sure your work wear is up to date. When I was in accounting, I wished I would have experienced more with my work outfits in the way I do now. That way I would have been more excited to dress myself up for work. It definitely helps you to focus on something positive if you, like I was, are working in a position you would like to change. Focus on something you can control at the moment so you can feel your absolute best at work!
Your work clothes do not have to feel mundane. I actually miss bringing my own personal flare to the business casual attire that a corporate office requires. No one can swing that personal touch like you can, right! The essential items I have listed below are great suggestions for adding your personal touch to what we like to refer to as “work appropriate clothing”. Check out these work wear staples below.
BLAZERS
Honestly, this is one item I wish I would have purchased more of while working as a full time accountant. You can never have too many blazers in my opinion. I got this blazer from Loft before they stopped offering plus sizes. Fortunately, there are some amazing retailers that offer plus size blazers in various sizes, colors and styles. For instance, Eloquii is the first place I go when I look for different styles of blazers that fit well. Check out some of their blazers and more below.
SOLID BODYSUITS & TOPS
I love this short sleeve bodysuit that I got from Shein. It’s just something about the fit and multi purpose of a solid bodysuit and top that works perfect for your work clothes. Having multiple solid tops allows me to style my work outfit in different ways. Talk about cost per wear, right? I found some tops that would look great in the office, and would still allow you to be within your workplace dress code.
COMFORTABLE SLACKS
We don’t just have to stick with the boring creased black slacks, right? There are some great styles available that will allow you to add your personal spin to your work outfit. And let’s be honest; work clothes are all about feeling confident and having great fit. Once you find some amazing work slacks, I would buy them in every color available.
CASUAL FRIDAY JEANS
I used to be nervous to purchase plus size jeans let alone buy them online versus in the store. However, the more I shopped, the more I learned which brands I absolutely love to wear. I have definitely worn these A.N.A jeans from JCPenny to work. If you are thinking “Ashley, why are you wearing skinny jeans to work?” Trust me, it definitely works out and it’s still professional depending on how you style it. Here are some great jeans to consider for casual Fridays.
I just found your blog. Love how you styled jeans and blazer, I hope to achieve this look!!
Thank you Barbara! You definitely can achieve this look ❤️
