First, I would like to make a disclaimer on how exceedingly pissed I am that I did not get a chance to go to NYFW or Curvy Con this year. Well I am exaggerating a little, I’m not exceedingly pissed…just a little disappointed.
If you’re a fashion blogger, going to NYFW is one of your biggest goals. Am I right?
If you did not get a chance to go to fashion week, scanning through pictures on Instagram and you know…the entire internet, gives you a bit of peace on what you missed. So, needless to say, that is exactly what I did this year. I know NYFW is full of the hustle and bustle, hair and makeup, constantly changing outfits, requesting Lyft’s, and just running around New York like a chicken with its head cut off. (More like a fashionable peacock) But NYFW is a beautiful right of passage for any fashion blogger.
2017 was the first year that Curvy Con took place right in the middle of NYFW. Honesty, CeCe and Chasity are absolute geniuses for even thinking of this master plan. If you want to see a change, you can’t just wait for it to happen. Most of the time you have to push for it to happen. That is exactly what these ladies did.
I can not express to you guys enough on how great it felt to see us out there…US! This isn’t the first time plus size women were included in NYFW, but I can’t help but to get excited when I see more inclusion each year.
Not to mention the fact we were discussed in Instyle…wow!
And I’m talking front page! I was able to actually able to pull up instyle.com on my computer and see some of my favorite plus size bloggers in street style photographs posted as top news. I feel truly blessed to be apart of this industry.
Look I wasn’t even there, and I am acting as if I was photographed myself!
Not only were we better represented through model and influencer presence in NYFW, it’s like we also have our own space of representation by attending Curvy Con as well.
If you haven’t seen my post from last years Curvy Con, check it out here. I went with the platinum ticket and I didn’t regret it one bit. I had such a great time shopping, meeting other bloggers and brands, showing off great fashion, and just having the best time with other plus size women.
If you would like to have a great time and get to know more women who experience having a body different than others, than I definitely would suggest going to Curvy Con during NYFW.
I’m planning to be there next year, so I hope to see you there!
