When I first started doing my own makeup, my eye makeup game was at an all time low. Watching the great makeup artists (MUA) like Jacklyn Hill, Makeup Shayla, and Jackie Aina made me shake in my boots when I thought about doing my own makeup. But honestly, even though these beautiful ladies had previous experience in the MUA industry, it does not mean that experience is necessary to be great at doing your own makeup.
I have made some very significant progress in my eye makeup game. The key for me is to continue to have fun with it, and stop trying to be like everyone else. My makeup will be different, and I will have my own way of doing things…so will you.
Well, enough of the pep talk. Let’s get into some great makeup tips! Here are 8 items I have used to make sure my eye makeup was on point!
NYX “That’s The Point” Eyeliner
Some people are very intimidated by creating a winged liner. All I can say is keep practicing. Once I found a way that was easy for me to create a winged liner, it made me achieving a bomb look so much easier.
The NYX “That’s the Point” eyeliner has simplified achieving a great winged eyeliner. I have only been using it for a short while, but it has me living! My NYX eyeliner has never dried out, and the point is just that…a point. So, making precise thin lines are so much easier. Also, the liquid is not runny so it dries easily and never bleeds.
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara
Great eyelashes that pop are a good way to elevate your eye makeup. It also adds shadow and depth to your eyes when combined with a winged liner. I have decent eyelashes when bare, but the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara takes my lashes to another level. I honestly don’t have to combine this mascara with any other. It adds volume, deep color, and lengthens your lashes extremely well. Oh and honey, it is well worth the price!
EyLure Silk Lashes
Adding lashes to your eye makeup routine is not necessary to have a bomb look. Although, if you do decide to add them, they will give your eyes a magical pop. I know adding lashes can be hard for a beginner, but once you get the hang of it, you will not regret it. Eylure lashes have so many varieties of lashes from different lengths to different styles at a very affordable price. Their silk lash line has become my favorite, because they give a more natural look even if you’re aiming for a more dramatic eye. Lashes have no expiration date, so as long as they still look good you can use them over and over again which makes these well worth the buy.
Sephora Eyeshadow Palette
If you are a beginner with makeup, you may be more interested in buying affordable makeup to practice versus high end makeup that is more of an investment. The Sephora brand makeup line is not only affordable, but in my opinion, it is comparable in quality to the higher end makeup brands. The colors have great pigment and long wear. Why not get a great eye shadow palette that has high end quality without the price tag?
Blending Brush
My blending brush has taken my eyeshadow game to the next level. I am using the E.L.F. blending brush, because it was in my budget at the time and it has not disappointed. Blending brushes gives you the gradual change in color when applying eyeshadow. They help make for a more professional look in your eye makeup. Below are some great options for blending brushes.
NARS Concealer
Through my experience, the NARS concealer has been the best concealer for all skin types. It is full coverage, has a nice matte finish, but does not dry out the skin. So far, it is the top concealer to hide my under eye lines and wrinkles. Adding concealer under the brow bone and under the eyes can really brighten up your makeup. With 22 different shades, NARS has been very good at accommodating the different skin tones which makes another reason why they get my coins.
Angle Brush
The angle brush has been a must have in my eye makeup routine. I do not know of any other way that will help you create the perfect brow. Currently I use the MAC angle brush that I have been using for years, but there are many brands that accommodate every price range. So, it’s easy to find one that fits in your budget and helps you get the job done.
Brow Shadow & Creams
There are some great brow shadow and creams that will help you achieve the perfect brow to elevate your look. I currently use shadow to fill in my brows, but I have found that cream is a lot easier, faster, and gives more pop. Using your angle brush with your eye brow shadow or cream is all you need to fill and create great brows. Check out the brow shadows and creams below.

That head wrap is from where please and thank you 🙂
It’s actually just some fabric from a fabric store here in Houston. We just found what we liked and used it as a head wrap 🙂

Thank you!
